    1) Lay your rail top down on the high-density foam. Trace the rail pattern onto the foam with a black marker. This is the area you will apply the spray adhesive and fasten the foam to the rail base.

    2) Using a guide (from a scrap piece) trace another line 1 ¾” from the outside of the rail and 1” from the inside. Note: Remember the outer edge is 1 ½” and the inner edge is ¾”. You will want to allow another ¼” or so to compensate for the corners. Double-check to make sure you have enough foam to reach.

    3) Spray the inner area of the foam (4” trace rail) as well as the top of the wooden rail. Allow the adhesive to dry until tacky (~15-20 seconds) and carefully lay the rail over the traced pattern. Allow 10 minutes for the adhesive to dry.

    4) Using an electric knife (razor of hacksaw blade will work too) trim the excess foam.
