This is the part of the job that scares people the most. If you take your time and follow the instructions, you will get the wrinkle-free results you want.

    1) Lay the vinyl top-down on the ground. Lay the padded rail top-down on top of the vinyl.

    2) Pull the vinyl very tight around end of the arc a place a couple staples to hold it in place.

    3) Gradually work your way around one side of the arc 1 ½” at a time, pulling toward the center of your radius (toward the previous staple). You will begin to see wrinkles, which is normal. Make sure the wrinkles are on the bottom of the rail and not visible from the side or top. Try and staple over top of the wrinkles if possible to give the staple more strength. Repeat for the other side of the arc.

    4) Pull the vinyl over the opposite arc very tightly and repeat steps 1 through 3 then the flat side rail should go easy. Take your time, and if you have to pull staples and redo, it’s no problem. The rail is important, as any wrinkles will stand out.

    5) Find the radius of each arc, mark an X and connect the X’s with a line and cut.

    6) Draw wedges inward to the arch stopping about 3” from the edge. The wedges should be approximately 3 – 4” apart. (Careful not to cut too much!)

    7) Cut the flat side rail vinyl about 3 ½” from the inside rail to alleviate the tension when stapling the arc.

    8) Pull the wedges over the rail at the top of the arch and staple. Watch the vinyl for excessive tension – you don’t want the vinyl to tear too far.

    9) Staple around the edge of the arc, one direction at a time ending at the flat portion.

    10) Repeat at the other end, staple the flat rail and trim the excess material off.
